Moon phase and solunar windows.
Tonight's moon drawn as you'd actually see it, with moonrise, moonset, and the solunar major and minor windows over the moon's path for your location. Honest about what it is: solunar timing is tradition, not a forecast.
Tonight over Kerrville, TX, Kerr County the moon is a 1% new moon. Moonrise 7:47 AM, moonset 8:03 PM. Solunar major periods fall around the moon's overhead and underfoot passages; treat them as tradition, not a forecast.
Solunar tables date to 1926 and are tradition, not forecasting. Ember's own conditions engine weights moon phase at about 2% for deer. Use these windows as a rhythm for the day, not a prediction.
Moon and solunar, answered
What is a solunar table?
A solunar table marks times of day the moon is thought to spur animal movement: major periods around the moon overhead and underfoot, minor periods around moonrise and moonset. It is a tradition from 1926, not a forecast.
Does the moon phase affect deer movement?
The evidence is weak. Ember’s own conditions engine weights moon phase at about 2% for deer. Treat solunar windows as a rhythm for the day, not a prediction.
How is the moon drawn?
The disc is NASA’s LROC lunar surface map, lit by the real Sun direction for your location and hour, with the terminator, limb orientation, and libration computed for that moment — the moon as you would actually see it.
