Graylight, LLC ("Graylight," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Ember platform, website, and mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. Please also review our Terms of Service.
01Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, state of residence, and password when you create an account
- Payment information: billing details processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers
- User content: hunt logs, photos, notes, and other content you submit through the Service
- Communications: messages you send us through support channels or feedback forms
Information collected automatically
- Location data: with your permission, we collect precise location data to power features such as stand placement, terrain scoring, offline maps, and check-in safety tools. You can disable location access through your device settings at any time
- Device information: device type, operating system, browser type, and unique device identifiers
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, and interactions with the Service
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and local storage to operate and improve the Service:
- Essential cookies: required for core functionality such as authentication, security, and remembering your preferences
- Analytics cookies (optional): help us understand how visitors use the Service so we can improve it. You can opt out of these without affecting your experience
- Advertising cookies (optional): with your consent, we use the Meta Pixel to measure our ads and to show Ember ads on Facebook and Instagram to people who visited the site. It is off unless you accept, and the same consent dialog (or clearing your browser's local storage) turns it off
- Live chat cookies (optional): with your consent, we load Crisp, our live chat provider, so you can message us from the site. Crisp sets cookies to keep your conversation going and receives the messages you send and any contact details you give it. It is off unless you accept, and the same consent dialog (or clearing your browser's local storage) turns it off

03How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: trusted third parties that help us operate the Service (e.g., Stripe for payment processing, cloud hosting providers, Crisp for live chat and support conversations, Google Analytics and Meta for the optional analytics and advertising cookies described above). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data
- Group members: if you use group features, certain information — such as your name and check-in status, and any pins, zones, trails, sightings, harvests, or target animals you mark as shared with your group — is visible to other members of your group. Your unshared content stays private to you, though group administrators may edit items shared to the group map
- Legal requirements: when required by law, court order, or governmental authority
- Safety: when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of our users or the public
04Data retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security purposes.
05Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access and portability: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: update or correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: request that we delete your account and personal data
- Opt out of analytics and advertising: decline optional cookies through our consent dialog
- Location access: revoke location permissions through your device settings at any time

06California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

07Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
08Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@emberhq.app.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

11Ember Seasons for ChatGPT and Claude
Ember Seasons is a free, read-only connector that lets AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude look up deer and turkey season dates from Ember. It runs at emberhq.app/mcp. This section covers that connector; the rest of this policy covers the Ember app and website.
What we receive
- The inputs your assistant sends to a tool: the state, species, weapon and date it is asking about.
- Standard request details: the user agent or client name (which tells us whether the call came from ChatGPT, Claude or another client) and the network address of the caller. The assistant makes the request from its own servers, so that address is generally theirs, not your device’s.
What we record
- A usage event in Vercel Analytics each time a tool is called: the tool name, the state as the assistant sent it, and which assistant it came from (ChatGPT, Claude or other). The event is sent to Vercel Analytics along with the request’s user agent and network address.
- Standard request and runtime logs kept by our hosting provider, Vercel, which include requests to /mcp. A Vercel firewall rule on /mcp may use the caller’s IP address to rate-limit requests and protect the service.
We use these records to see which tools and states people ask about and to keep the connector reliable. Vercel keeps them under its own retention settings for our plan. The connector does not write anything to Ember’s databases.
What we don’t do
- No Ember account or sign-in is needed, and we don’t ask for your name, email, location or any other personal information.
- The connector does not set cookies.
- We don’t see your conversation. Ember receives only the tool inputs listed above, not the rest of your chat or your ChatGPT or Claude account details.
- We don’t sell this information or share it with anyone other than the service providers named here.
Your conversation with ChatGPT or Claude is handled under OpenAI’s or Anthropic’s own privacy policy, not this one. Questions about the connector can go to support@emberhq.app or our support page.
